Position Summary

This position is a level 3 maintenance employee. Observes and examines complex, specialized
equipment and parts to identify issues and determine appropriate repairs. Completes preventative
maintenance of facility equipment.

  • Observe, dismantle and examine complex / specialized mechanical devices
    and parts to identify and locate issues.
  • Examine parts to detect imperfections. Inspect used parts to determine
    changes in dimensional requirements. Requires the use of rulers, calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.
  • Repair and/or remove defective parts. May require the use hoists, ladders,
    hand tools, and power tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprint layouts, written instructions and repair manuals
    to complete assigned tasks.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments. May require the
    use of hand tools, levels, and straight edges.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • May set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder and other metalworking
    tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiate purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Perform welding tasks as necessary.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by management.

Minimum Job Experience Required

  • 1-2 years of maintenance related work experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in related field a plus.
  • Possess current driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and use precision instruments. Basic knowledge of electronic
    equipment and testing devices.
  • This position is expected to complete required Craft Training Modules according to policy.
  • Ability to be on 24-hour call and provide own tools if required.
  • Specialized training in various areas of repair and maintenance a plus.
