Position Summary

AAI/Spalding is a major sports equipment manufacturing company located in Jefferson, Iowa owned by Spalding; a division of Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., & leading international basic apparel company.

 

We currently have an opening for Maintenance Technician. This position maintains and repairs electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components for production equipment, such as metal fabricating tools, wood tools, sewing machines, and powered industrial trucks. Maintains all general shop equipment, vehicles, buildings and grounds. 

 

This is a full time, first shift position with excellent benefits and a pay range of $22.25 - $24.25 per hour.

Our Jefferson, Iowa facility has been in operation and supporting our local community since 1954.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Acknowledge maintenance repair requests. Observe machines and equipment to identify and diagnose issues, repair and replace defective parts, and ensure machines are operational upon repair completion. May require use of hoists, ladders, hand tools, and power tools. Initiate purchase orders for required parts. Work with Engineering and Supervisors on new and/or updated tooling needs.

Perform general building maintenance, such as safety lines, door repairs, construction, painting, plumbing, etc. Perform general parking lot and grounds maintenance to include lawn care and snow removal.

Setup and operate tools such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, saws, cutting torches and welders to perform necessary repairs.

Work with the Safety Manager and others to assure all systems, such as fire, burglary, ventilation, etc. are in operating condition.

Perform preventative maintenance, review and update Lockout Program, and complete inspections as required. Document maintenance in accordance with machine and company requirements. Perform required equipment, tool and building inspections as outlined by company policy and OSHA standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree in related field preferred
  • Thorough mechanical aptitude; strong knowledge in electricity, electronic controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, welding, carpentry plumbing and other general maintenance subjects
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Driver’s license required
  • Ability to follow complex instructions, includes reading and interpreting written instructions and repair manuals
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English fluently
  • Ability to use precision instruments

Minimum Job Experience Required

  • Four years of related maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of related training/education and experience.
